Vehicles In Production

At Baum Chevrolet Buick, we want to make your new car search easy! Below are some frequently asked questions about our Pre-Order and Reservation processes for new Buick and Chevrolet vehicles for sale in Central Illinois.

What does GM “in-transit” mean?
In-transit (or incoming) means that the GM vehicle has left the factory or staging and production area, and is on its way to Baum Chevrolet Buick. The time in-transit varies by model. If you are interested in viewing or purchasing an in-transit vehicle, contact us as soon as possible. All in-transit vehicles can be viewed on our in-transit page.

What does “in-production” mean?
In-production signifies a vehicle that has been ordered by Baum Chevrolet Buick and is scheduled to be produced by GM and delivered to our dealership. We update our in-production page frequently with the latest orders. Contact us to make your no-obligation reservation today.

Can I preorder a new 2023 or 2024 Chevrolet or Buick?
Yes, you can! If you can’t find exactly the new Chevy Silverado, Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Blazer or other Buick or Chevrolet model you’re looking for, the sales staff at Baum Chevrolet Buick will be happy to help you pre-order or custom order your new truck or car, depending on factory allowance. This option allows you to select the perfect features for your vehicle. Contact us for more on this option.

What is the difference between pre-order and reservation at Baum Chevy?
We consider a pre-order to be a custom selection of features, to your specifications, depending on factory allocation. A reservation is a no-obligation opportunity to view an in-production vehicle when it arrives, and is first come, first served. For example, many of our in-demand models may have multiple reservations. In this instance, the first customer to place his or her name on the reservation list will have the first opportunity to view and purchase the vehicle. We will continue down the list until the vehicle has been claimed. For this reason, it’s important to begin your relationship with a member of our sales staff early in your search so they may keep you updated on new vehicle orders that are in production. This ensures you are on the list when an order matching your needs is placed.

Why should I consider purchasing an in-transit or in-production vehicle?
Making a reservation or pre-order allows you to be among the first customers to choose from our most popular vehicles, selecting the features and colors you prefer. If you are on the reservation list, you will continually be notified of the vehicle’s status, so you may prepare to purchase.

How long does it take to order a car from GM?
Much like other consumer goods such as furniture and appliances, customers should allot several weeks for pre-ordered vehicles, if the factory provides availability of your selected model and features. However, keep in mind this estimate can vary due to supply chains and transportation, so the time needed to receive your vehicle may be more or less than the estimate.

How long does it take to receive an ordered Chevy truck?
GM Chevy truck order-to-delivery time varies depending on several market factors, including parts and transportation availability and factory constraints. Our sales staff will keep you updated on the progress of your ordered vehicle.

Can I be placed on an order list for a Corvette or Electric Silverado, Blazer, or Equinox?
Yes, Baum Chevrolet Buick is taking or will be taking reservations for all in-demand vehicle models, including Corvettes and the electric Equinox and Silverado. However, we cannot guarantee availability due to factory constraints. Please call 217-935-3156 or contact us and ask to speak with our sales team for an update regarding these special preorders.
